Former Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen continues his path towards normality with his first competitive start for Brentford, and contributes to a goal too.

The Dane had not started a match since that UEFA EURO 2020 encounter between Denmark and Finland, which saw him collapse during the first half and his heart stop.

He had to be revived on the pitch by medical staff using a defibrillator, then was taken to hospital, where doctors decided he should receive an implanted version of that technology to restart his heart automatically if it stopped again.

Those implants barred him from participating in any sporting activity in Italy, so his contract with Inter was terminated by mutual consent.

Eriksen signed for Premier League side Brentford and today made his first start in competitive football since that cardiac arrest, a trip to Norwich.

He even contributed to a goal, as his corner was flicked on for the Ivan Toney opener.

There was also a sweet moment when Norwich player Brandon Williams was about to get furious at a player pulling him down, until he realised it was Eriksen.

  1. I know it’s unlikely but if Eriksen plays CL away game versus Italian team does he allowed to be fielded? Can Italian authorities intervene like you know what I meanπŸ€”
