Former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga has started his latest adventure, becoming the new head coach of UAE side Emirates Club.

The 63-year-old Italian has travelled far and wide in his coaching career so far, starting out as a player-coach of New England before spending time with a long list of clubs including Brera, FC National, Steaua Bucharest, Red Star, Gaziantepspor, FC Dinamo, Catania, Palermo, Al-Nassr, Sampdoria and Wolves.

Zenga was most recently working with Indonesian side Persita Tangerang, acting as a director of development and head of methodology before his departure this week.

As confirmed today, Zenga has now signed a one-year contract with Emirates Club in the United Arab Emirates, becoming their new head coach. It’s his first time in the dugout in almost four years, having previously coached Cagliari for a few months in 2020.

Speaking to the club’s media department, the former Inter goalkeeper discussed his ambitions in the UAE.

“I promise to give everything I have and to use my energy, my work team and my experience to help the club grow and improve. I will meet the players after watching some matches.

“What matters is their response, I want to instil the principles of team spirit and team play. I also hope for the support of the fans during the next phase, which requires everyone to unite.”

  1. They can take all the talent Europe has to offer , still nobody is interested in their toytown league! The sooner the supercup comes back to Italy the better.
