Gabriel Barbosa, who failed to impress during his time with Inter, scored the decisive goal for Flamengo in their Copa Libertadores final against Athletico Paranaense.

The Nerazzurri signed the Brazilian forward, who is more commonly known as Gabigol, from Santos in the summer of 2016 for around €30m. He struggled for consistent minutes in his first season at the club, scoring one goal in 111 minutes of Serie A action, and was sent out on loan to Benfica the following summer.

Gabigol returned from Benfica after just five months and spent time on loan with Santos before eventually finding his footing with Flamengo in 2019.

Whilst the Brazilian forward never managed to impress during his time with Inter, he’s become a star with Flamengo, scoring 113 goals in 185 appearances across all competitions.

In the Copa Libertadores final yesterday, Gabigol proved the difference maker just before the half time break, netting the winning goal to secure his second continental trophy with Flamengo.
