Patrice Evra explains why Dusan Vlahovic rejected all other offers so he could join Juventus. ‘Players go to Manchester United and PSG for the money. Vlahovic loved Juventus before coming here.’
Evra is working as a pitch-side pundit for Amazon Prime Italia’s Champions League coverage as Juventus host Villarreal in the Round of 16.
He was standing with Claudio Marchisio and Clarence Seedorf during the warm-up and discussed the fact Vlahovic turned down more lucrative proposals from the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur so he could push through the transfer from Fiorentina to Juventus.
“Players go to Manchester United for the money, not for the history. They go to PSG for the money and to live in a beautiful city,” Evra said on Amazon Prime Italia.
“This is why I hope to God Juventus maintain this mentality and the draw they have. Players like Vlahovic and Locatelli, they loved Juventus even before coming here. That is what they need to keep at this club.
“Money is ruining everything in football.”
Evra has experienced all of those, as he was in the PSG youth academy, played at Manchester United from 2006 to 2014, then wore the Juventus jersey until 2017.

Well, he’s not wrong…
No, they go to Man Utd because it’s a great club in the most competitive league in Europe.
And they go to PSG because it’s an ambitious club, trying to be great, and to play with the best in the world like Neymar and Mbappe.
Evra is pathetic.. But this isn’t new.. he has been talking and praising Juve left and right ever since he retired. He’s really fishing for a job at Juve, maybe even as a ball boy.
But no one seems to pay attention to him.
@MD
LOL, how did PSG get ambitious? Why did Neymar and Mbappe go there in the first place? I let that sink in for a while…
@Filtrum, so a club that buys Neymar, Mbappe, Messi, and before that the likes of Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Lavetzzi, Cavani.. has no ambition ?
How about you let that sink in before you type another letter..
Money is always an incentive, but if you actually believe money is the only thing these already super rich, multi millionaire, players are after, then you are truly clueless.
Go back and read my response carefully.
How about learn how to spell lavezzi before criticizing anyone pal. Clearly the one who is trying to teach everyone does not even even know players names yet tries teach everyone. Nice try idiot.
@MD
if what you said is true then New Castle is the most ambitious club right now eh?
and new star player who goes there have ambitions to win the trophy eh? nahh they go there absolutely running for the money
every big club have their own ambitions in their own way. But not everyone have oil money like PSG. Just because PSG have money doesn’t mean they become more ambitious than any other historical club.
money are tools to reach the objective
@rico,
Have they been able to attract star players or managers and convince them of a serious project ?
Like Everton tried to do with Ancelotti.. or what Tottenham did with Pochettino or now with Conte ?
When that happens, then yes that would demonstrate ambition.
PSG and Man City are state sponsored clubs, so of course they have pits of money..
Again, money is always an incentive. We don’t sit in players’ minds so we can know exactly why they make those decisions. Which is why we have to take context into it..
In 2008, Ronaldinho was offered more money by Chelsea, when Scolari took over, but he chose to go to Milan.. why ? Less money, but he saw a more exciting challenge in Italy.
We saw Eto’o at age 30 leave European football and go to China after winning every possible title in Spain and Italy.. why ? then he took a paycut to come back to Chelsea..
If you look at PSG today, money is without a doubt a major attraction, but we can not deny that they do have a serious project and are trying to be great and win in Europe. However unsuccessful they might be in that endeavor. Also, there’s the attraction of a major city like Paris, which a lot of people overlook in these discussions.
The problems are the monkey Agents, not specifically the players..the agents didnt have the same power before ca 2018 and they try to squeeze everything from the players
Players are just stupid (gigio) and let themselve be a puppet of their agents…not all players but 99%.
We should start there first.
lots of fans loves club base on their favorites players and move on when the players moves to another club, but lots of juventini loves juventus even when their favorite players left the club or when juventus played in serie b
this is what me and lots of football fans I met feels from my experience
so I think some players might feel that too
