Destiny Udogie is ‘happy’ for the opportunity to extend with Tottenham until June 2030 and according to reports in Italy, the Azzurri defender will get more than €2m per season in North London.

The former Udinese left-back has extended his contract with Spurs by three more years after making just 14 appearances with the Premier League side.

“I’m really happy… happy because to be here at this club is a big joy for me, and happy for this opportunity,” Udogie told Tottenham’s official website.

“From the first day I came here, I felt at home with the players, the coaching staff, the whole club. I feel so welcome, and I am happy to be here.

“It’s the way everyone at the club respects you, how the club show love to the players and everyone. From the first day, I only had one objective, to play well and help the team. I am trying to learn as much as I can every day in training with the staff and the team and I think every day it’s getting better.

“I am really happy in this position, and I am trying to do my best. It’s a big journey; I have to stay focused, work hard and keep working and bring results,” Udogie continued.

“The Premier League is very tough, it’s a physical league, intense… the staff are doing big work every day, and it’s showing on the pitch.

“It’s the most difficult league; you have to be ready mentally and physically, and I’m finding a good experience. Every day, I’m learning something new, working with great players.

“I am learning something new every day. I think it’s going to be a good season; I just need to keep working and stay focused. I’ll try to do my best every day. My, my family, everyone’s happy.”

Udogie had originally signed a contract until June 2027, but Spurs quickly offered him a new deal, extending his stay at the club by three more years, until the end of the 2029-30 campaign.

Fabrizio Romano had claimed Udogie would get a pay rise in his new deal and according to Calciomercato.com, the 21-year-old will earn more than €2m per season with his new deal in North London.

According to the report, Juventus and Inter were interested in signing Udogie in 2022, but Tottenham were quicker in reaching an agreement with Udinese and allowed the Bianconeri to keep the defender on loan for 2022-23.
