Inter’s hopes of picking up Lucas Digne from Everton in January were boosted when Rafa Benitez dropped the left-back for not being ‘committed to the club.’

It is no secret the 28-year-old wants to leave after 15 competitive appearances for the club this season.

He has been heavily linked with Inter in Serie A, as well as Chelsea, who are currently dealing with a full-back shortage amid injuries.

Digne was dropped for today’s 3-2 home defeat to Brighton and left on the bench throughout the Premier League game.

When coach Benitez was asked why he had chosen the other options rather than Digne, he replied: “Because they’re committed to the club.”

The manager then refused to comment on the possibility of selling Digne in January.

It would be a return to Serie A, as he already represented Roma in 2015-16 while on loan from PSG.

He went on to Barcelona for €16.5m in the summer of 2016 and then was sold to Everton for €20.2m in 2018.
