Everton defender Ben Godfrey has emerged as one of the candidates for Milan, also linked with Atalanta, Roma, Sheffield United and Leeds United.

The Rossoneri have brought Mattia Gabbia back from his loan spell at Villarreal to plug some gaps, but need another central defender following serious injuries to Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu.

According to Calciomercato.it, the latest option is Everton centre-back Godfrey, who was proposed to the Serie A club by transfer intermediaries.

Godfrey had already been pushed towards Serie A for Roma before they decided to fire coach Jose Mourinho and was in talks with Atalanta too.

He just turned 26 this week and has two senior caps for England.

This is also a good option for Stefano Pioli’s side because he can play in front of the defence or as a right-back too.

His contract with Everton only runs to June 2025 and there is also interest from Sheffield United in the Premier League and Championship club Leeds United.
