Lazio are in intensive negotiations with Everton to sell striker Joaquin Correa, claims Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà.

The Argentina international has been on the market all summer and had his heart set on following coach Simone Inzaghi to Inter, but the clubs could not agree on the €40m valuation.

Everton became an option and now the talks seem to be progressing this evening, with Sportitalia suggesting lengthy meetings between the teams that have been going for hours this evening.

The 27-year-old is a second striker, but can also play in a deeper role or on the left wing, and is known for his pace on the counter-attack.

‘Tucu’ Correa scored 30 goals and provided 18 assists in 117 competitive games for Lazio.

Last season was particularly prolific, with 11 goals and six assists in 38 games.

He was purchased from Sevilla in 2018 for €15m and previously represented Sampdoria from January 2015 to June 2016.

Correa has two goals in six senior caps for Argentina.
