Michele Criscitiello suggests that Everton are close to reaching a deal for Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto.

The 19-year-old Italian joined the English side from FC Zurich last September in a deal worth around €4.5m, signing a five-year contract.

Chances were limited for Gnonto amid a chaotic season at Leeds, but when he was on the pitch he impressed, scoring four goals and providing four assists across 28 total appearances.

As reported by Criscitiello of SportItalia, Everton are now close to agreeing a deal for Gnonto, willing to pay Leeds around €22 million.

The Whites finished 19th in the Premier League last season, relegating them to the Championship, so a number of players have been sold to help cut costs at the club.

Gnonto has already made 12 appearances for the Italian national team and looks set to grow into a top player in the coming years, making the move a smart signing by Everton.
