Napoli, Lazio and Atalanta go into the Europa League play-offs with Barcelona, Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund and others, with the draw on Monday December 13.

There are 16 teams in the draw, the sides that finished third in their Champions League groups – including Atalanta – and the runners-up from the Europa League groups.

Napoli finished behind Spartak Moscow on head-to-head record, while Lazio needed to beat Galatasaray this evening and only managed a 0-0 draw.

The runners-up from the Europa League group stage will be seeded, but the third-placed teams transferred from the Champions League will be unseeded.

It will be a two-legged knockout round play-off to be played on February 17 and a week later.

There are limitations on the draw, so no two sides from the same country can face each other.

Napoli and Lazio risk facing the likes of Barcelona, Sevilla, FC Porto, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.

4 thought on “Europa League play-offs: Who Atalanta, Napoli and Lazio could face”
  1. This year super EL with Barcelona, Sevilla, Dortmund and Serie A sides. Sure, Sevilla will win it. 😀

  2. Might actually be more interesting than the CL. That looks like it’s heading to England or Bayern again.

The EL is much harder to call.

Atalanta should be a match for all of those seeded teams.

Not much for Napoli and Lazio to look forward too draw-wise, but Barca are a mess, Dortmund and Liepzig nothing special, and Sevilla a fading force too.

Problem is, Italy’s record against Spanish teams is shocking.

  3. Shame for italian football, cant believe how they became such bullshit weak, its terrible, I am already sure only 1 team at most will reach top 16 in europa league, such weak football…especially in decisive games, unbielivieble!
