Lazio are at least guaranteed second place in their Europa League group and face off with Galatasaray for top spot after Ciro Immobile’s brace of penalties and a Pedro strike conquered Lokomotiv Moscow.

They only need a 1-0 win against Galatasaray in the final game at the Stadio Olimpico to secure a place in the Round of 16.

Immobile returned after a calf injury to lead the line, while Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Danilo Cataldi were rested. Maurizio Sarri’s men knew a point would be enough to stay in the competition.

Ex-Roma defender Tin Jedvaj turned a header wide from a corner in the opening minutes, while Francesco Acerbi’s effort was straight at the teenage goalkeeper.

Luis Alberto’s corner glanced the head of Toma Basic and had to be cleared off the line by Maciej Rybus, while the Spaniard tried to score directly from the flag, Daniil Khudiakov fingertipping over the bar.

Felipe Anderson stung the goalkeeper’s gloves and there were appeals for handball in first half stoppages, but Jedvaj had his arm in a natural position and it grazed his torso first.

The game changed after the break when Aleksandr Silyanov went into a late sliding tackle on Mattia Zaccagni, although the referee needed VAR to realise it was a foul. Immobile converted to give Lazio the deserved lead in Moscow.

They received another spot-kick when Immobile was brought down by Dmitri Barinov, the cut inside and dummy fooling the Lokomotiv captain. Immobile scored again, this time off the inside of the upright.

Pedro should’ve made it 3-0 soon after on the counter from his own half, but scuffed the dinked finish wide.

Vitalii Lisakovich forced the first real Thomas Strakosha save after 68 minutes from the edge of the area, but Acerbi wasted another counter by firing at the goalkeeper one-on-one.

Pedro did get the third when a corner landed at the edge of the box, he controlled with his right foot, cut back onto his left and the finish took a touch off Jedvaj to find the far bottom corner.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic smashed a ferocious strike onto the crossbar in stoppages.
