Roma will meet Slavia Prague, Sheriff and Servette in the Europa League group stage, while Atalanta will face Sporting CP, Strum Graz and Raków Częstochowa.

Both Serie A sides were on pot 1 in today’s draw that took place in Montecarlo. Despite starting in a good position, Atalanta got one of the most dangerous opponents in pot 2 in Sporting CP. Roma, on the other hand, got Slavia Prague from the second pot.

Strum Graz and Poland champions Raków Częstochowa complete Atalanta’s Group D, while Roma will also face Sheriff and Servette in Group G.

On paper, the Giallorossi are favourite to win their group and qualify for the Round of 16 without going through the playoff where runners-up meet clubs dropped from the Champions League in February. Atalanta and Sporting CP appear favourites in Group D.

Today’s draw saw more Italians involved as Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton took part in their first-ever European draw. The Seagulls were quite unlucky as they’ll meet Ajax, Marseille and AEK Athens in Group B.
