Romania have officially topped Group E at EURO 2024 after a 1-1 draw with Slovakia on Wednesday evening, while Belgium have finished in second after a 0-0 stalemate against Ukraine, who have been eliminated after finishing last in the group.
The two goals of the early Wednesday kick-offs were netted by Serie A players in Slovakia’s Ondrej Duda and Romania’s Razvan Marin, who play their club football for Hellas Verona and Empoli respectively.
Duda nodded in a perfectly placed header to open the scoring after 24 minutes against Slovakia, who were eventually able to equalise through a Marin penalty.
Marin is now the joint-highest goalscorer at EURO 2024 with two goals from three matches, level with Germany’s Niclas Füllkrug and Jamal Musiala, Cody Gakpo of the Netherlands, Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze and Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz.
