Italy are through to the quarter-finals of the European Under-17 Championship after a 2-0 win over Slovakia with Milan striker Francesco Camarda on target.

The Azzurrini had already won the first group game by the same result against Poland and so have booked their spot in the final eight with a match to spare.

That will be on Monday evening against Sweden.

Coach Massimiliano Favo’s team took control in Cyprus with two goals from Milan Primavera youth team players.

Camarda, who became the youngest ever player to debut in Serie A at the age of 15 and is discussing a new Milan contract, opened the scoring with a great left-footed half-volley, letting the long ball bounce to smash into the far top corner from just inside the box.

Mattia Liberali netted eight minutes later to get the result under wraps by half-time.

Elsewhere in the group, Sweden and Poland played out a 2-2 draw.

Italy 2-0 Slovakia

Camarda 30 (I), Liberali 38 (I)
