There are already 17 teams guaranteed qualification into EURO 2024, including hosts Germany, but the draw on December 2 is based on results in qualifying and not ranking.

Italy will join those sides in securing qualification if they manage to avoid defeat against Ukraine on Monday evening in Leverkusen.

Hosts Germany and the top two from each group are guaranteed access, along with another three teams who qualify via the play-offs.

As those play-offs are not going to be played until March 2023, it means that the draw for the tournament on December 2 will have three blanks for the teams who come through that path.

Rather than using the FIFA or UEFA ranking system, the draw is based on qualifying results, so all those who come through the play-offs are in Pot 4 as the lowest seeds.

There are 12 teams entering the play-offs, but only three will reach the tournament after semi-final and final clashes.

The draw for the play-offs will be made in Nyon on November 23.

Heading for Play-offs as things stand
