EURO 2024 qualifier line-ups: Italy vs. Ukraine

Luciano Spalletti makes several changes including Giacomo Raspadori, Nicolò Zaniolo, Giorgio Scalvini and Davide Frattesi as Italy host Ukraine in a potentially decisive EURO 2024 qualifier.

It kicks off at San Siro at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

Spalletti was rushed in after Roberto Mancini tended his resignation on August 13 and made his debut in Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 draw with North Macedonia.

Federico Chiesa and Lorenzo Pellegrini had already pulled out through injury, joined now by Matteo Politano, Gianluca Mancini and Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Under-fire Gianluigi Donnarumma keeps his spot and is promoted captain as player with the most senior caps, but there are otherwise radical changes in the starting XI.

Atalanta defender Scalvini steps in to defence, with Manuel Locatelli and Davide Frattesi in midfield.

Ciro Immobile is dropped to the bench in favour of Raspadori as a centre-forward accompanied by Nicolò Zaniolo and Mattia Zaccagni.

Ukraine are currently second in the group after a 1-1 draw with England, sitting three points ahead of Italy, but having played an extra game.

Genoa’s Ruslan Malinovskyi, Oleksandr Tymchyk and Mykola Shaparenko are injured.

Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko and Girona striker Artem Dovbyk start, but huge Chelsea buy Mykhaylo Mudryk is surprisingly benched.
