Italy made it through to the Round of 16, where they will face Switzerland in Berlin on Saturday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

Serie A and Bundesliga contributed most goals at EURO 2024

According to Transfermarkt statistical analysis, Bundesliga players scored 14 goals in the group phase, compared to 13 for Serie A representatives.

They were Nicolò Barella (Inter), Alessandro Bastoni (Inter) and Mattia Zaccagni (Lazio) for Italy.

Elsewhere, Romania’s Razvan Marin scored twice and he spent this season between Cagliari and Empoli.

Swiss pair Dan Ndoye and Michel Aebischer both play for Bologna, with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia of Georgia at Napoli, Milan and Serbia striker Luka Jovic, Albania and Sassuolo midfielder Nedim Bajrami, Slovenia and Verona player Ondrej Duda, then Inter pair Marko Arnautovic (Austria) and Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter).
