Marco Verratti is expected to start rather than Manuel Locatelli, with Francesco Acerbi and Giovanni Di Lorenzo in defence when Italy take on Austria.

The Euro 2020 Round of 16 kicks off at Wembley Stadium on Saturday at 20.00 UK time.

The winners will go on to face either Belgium or Portugal in the quarter-finals.

Giorgio Chiellini and Alessandro Florenzi are not 100 per cent fit and won’t start tomorrow, so Acerbi and Di Lorenzo step in to the back four.

Roberto Mancini has only one real decision to make, between Verratti and Locatelli in the three-man midfield.

As things stand, Paris Saint-Germain star Verratti is expected to take the reins, having made his comeback from a knee injury in the 1-0 win over Wales.

Locatelli had played against both Turkey and Switzerland, scoring two goals in the latter fixture.

The rest of the line-up should be largely the same one seen in those first two matches, with Domenico Berardi, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne upfront.

Austria are in the Euros final 16 for the first time in their history and hadn’t progressed past the group stage in any major tournament since the 1982 World Cup.

Coach Franco Foda is expected to adopt a 4-1-4-1 formation, with Marko Arnautovic leading the way and David Alaba returning to left-back.

Valentino Lazaro, still owned by Inter, is a major injury doubt and shouldn’t feature, but Christoph Baumgartner and Martin Hinteregger have recovered.

Florian Grillitsch could have a special role between the lines protecting the defence.

Probable line-ups

Italy (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Acerbi, Bonucci, Spinazzola; Barella, Jorginho, Verratti; Berardi, Immobile, Insigne

Austria (4-1-4-1): Bachmann; Lainer, Dragovic, Hinteregger, Alaba; Grillitsch; Laimer, Sabitzer, Schlager, Baumgartner; Arnautovic
