Cristiano Ronaldo warns ‘he is more motivated now than in 2004’ and insists Portugal can win the Euros again.

Portugal are the defending title holders of the European Championships. They will meet Germany, France and Hungary in the group stage at Euro 2020 and Cristiano Ronaldo warned his opponents in an interview with the Portuguese federation’s magazine ‘360.’

“These are the opponents we have been drawn to play against. We respect all the teams. There are no easy games,” the 36-year-old said.

“I am at this Euros as if it were the first. I feel as motivated or even more motivated than I was in 2004 at my first European Championship,” he continued.

Euro 2020 profile: Portugal ready for a repeat?

“We are the defending champions and we are again among the contenders for the trophy. There is no point in promising titles or making predictions. What I can promise is that we will go into every game to win,” the Juventus forward concluded.

Ronaldo scored 36 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions with the Serie A giants in 2020-21.

His contract with the Old Lady expires in June 2022, but according to several reports, he could leave the Allianz Stadium in the summer.

Euro 2020 kicks off on Friday with the opening game between Italy and Turkey.
