Samuel Eto’o reveals he asked for a Champions League bonus in his Inter contract, as he was ‘certain we’d win it’ within two years of his arrival.

The Cameroon international legend had joined from Barcelona in 2009 and went on to win the Treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010.

“When I signed the contract, there was a difference in the wage demands and offer, so I asked to put in a Champions League bonus, because I was certain we’d win it within two years,” Eto’o told reporters at the Festival dello Sport event.

“We had a team of real fighters and good people, a coach who understood both us and our fans. We were also fortunate in the game against Barcelona, but it arrived after we battled for the entire season.”

Simone Inzaghi is at the helm of Inter now, after Antonio Conte took them to the Serie A title last season.

“I hope Inter win the Scudetto again this term. They have the team to compete and win, but need to fight for it,” added Eto’o.
