Former Inter striker Samuel Eto’o said Roma coach Jose Mourinho was ‘unique’ in the way he ‘perfectly understood every player’ in the squad.
The Nerazzurri won the Treble during Mourinho’s stint at San Siro and Eto’o won his third Champions League with the Italian giants.
The former Cameroon international joined Inter from Barcelona ahead of the 2009-10 season and gave Mourinho the merit of the success.
The Portuguese returned to Serie A this summer when he replaced Paulo Fonseca at the helm of Roma and has helped the Giallorossi to nine wins in 11 games across all competitions.
Eto’o said the tactician’s player management was the key to his success, combined with his relationship with the fans in Milan.
“We had a team of coaches,” Eto’o told La Gazzetta dello Sport at the Sports Festival in Trento. “With a unique head coach [Mourinho].
“He perfectly understood every player and the sentiments of the Inter fans. He knew how to combine these two things, he was perfect.”
The 40-year-old scored 53 goals in 102 games with the Nerazzurri, winning one Champions League, one Scudetto, two Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa Italiana during his time with the club.
