Caner Erkin is already in Turkey to join Besiktas, but reportedly warned Inter not to ask for a €1.5m fee.

The full-back arrived over the summer as a free agent when his contract with Fenerbahce expired.

However, once Roberto Mancini was replaced by Frank de Boer, Erkin found he was no longer wanted at San Siro.

He flew out to Turkey yesterday in order to join Besiktas, having agreed personal terms for a contract worth €2.2m per year.

However, once Roberto Mancini was replaced by Frank de Boer, Erkin found he was no longer wanted at San Siro.

According to Hurriyet, Inter asked Besiktas for a transfer fee of €1.5m and this irritated the player.

Erkin is believed to have told the Nerazzurri that either they let him go for free or pay him just to train at Inter.

Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti was asked about the situation and spoke to Turkish media.

“Nobody is doubting the quality of the player, especially as he was one of the first signings of the new season. However, events promoted a re-evaluation of his transfer.

“We are working based on what is best for our Coach, De Boer, so he is the one who will decide. Whatever the choice, I hope for his career that Erkin joins a good team.”
