Former coach Sven-Göran Eriksson wouldn't compare Juventus forward Dejan Kulusevski to Pavel Nedved and said his compatriot ‘must be allowed to grow.

The Swede has not coached since he left the job with the Philippines in January 2019, but has a history with Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Lazio in Serie A.

The 73-year-old spoke about the recent criticism of Sweden international Dejan Kulusevski and said it’s not fair to compare the young winger to former Juventus hero Pavel Nedved.

The Swede has not coached since he left the job with the Philippines in January 2019, but has a history with Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Lazio in Serie A.

The 73-year-old spoke about the recent criticism of Sweden international Dejan Kulusevski and said it’s not fair to compare the young winger to former Juventus hero Pavel Nedved.

“Kulusevski is really a great prospect as a player,” Eriksson told Tuttomercatoweb. “I didn’t like the comparisons with Nedved or the criticism.

“Dejan is a very young player who will have a great future but must be allowed to grow. I particularly appreciate him and [Alexander] Isak of Real Sociedad, one of the emerging promises of Swedish football.”

Kulusevski, who moved to Juventus from Atalanta after a successful stint on loan with Parma, has played 25 times in Serie A with he Old Lady this season.

The 20-year-old has contributed three goals in Serie A and added two goals in four Coppa Italia games, but didn’t score in the Champions League this term.
