Christian Eriksen’s agent has confirmed his client’s intention to continue playing and noted that he plans to return to the San Siro next month.
The 29-year-old Danish midfielder’s contract was terminated with Inter yesterday following his cardiac arrest during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener against Finland in the summer. Players in Italy are not allowed to play with a defibrillator or pace maker.
Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots provided an update on his client’s plans, telling Gazzetta dello Sport that “he is in good physical condition, I am optimistic that he will return to the pitch because football is his passion.
“It was clear that it would end like this, unfortunately. Italy is the only country that does not allow you to play or train with a defibrillator.”
The agent then highlighted the 29-year-old Dane’s intention to say goodbye to the Inter fans after the Christmas break. “For now he has only said goodbye to the directors, but soon he will meet his teammates.
“He wants to come to San Siro in January for these fans who are crazy about him. They strongly wanted him and when they got to know him they also appreciated the man. This is something that goes beyond football, and it will remain forever.” He said.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Schoots has noted two clubs’ interest in signing him, although his former side Ajax have not yet made an approach.
Eriksen has reportedly been in good health since his on-pitch collapse in the summer and is keen to return to action, carefully following the advice of his doctors.
