Erick Thohir has dismissed suggestions that he has returned to Italy for further talks about taking control of Inter.

Reports had claimed that the Indonesian businessman had touched down in the peninsula’s fashion capital last night.

In fact, the Thohir who landed in Milan was Erick’s brother, Garibaldi Thohir. The proposed takeover, however, is still in the pipeline.

Inter chief Massimo Moratti has admitted that he is in negotiations with Erick, but he has refused to go into specifics.

“To close a deal we need to agree on everything,” the oil baron stated earlier this month. “There’s talk of continuing after mid-August.

“There are some things which are definitely still pending.

“I believe we’ll proceed by continuing to exchange information. The lawyers know more about it than I do, so I wouldn’t know what to tell you.

“Right now everything is tied to something else, so it all still has to be evaluated and examined. Then in the end we have to come to a general agreement.”
