There is some good news for Milan today, as L’Equipe claim Marcus Thuram has decided against signing for Paris Saint-Germain, so they become the absolute favourites.

The player is a free agent with his Borussia Monchengladbach contract set to expire on June 30.

It had become something of a two-horse race in recent weeks between PSG and Milan, with the Ligue 1 side able to offer considerably higher wages.

However, the Rossoneri promised regular playing time in Serie A and the Champions League, plus a salary at circa €4.5m per season.

According to French media source L’Equipe, Thuram has finally made his decision and informed PSG directors that he will not be joining them this summer.

There is still also interest from Borussia Dortmund, but Milan now seem to have the all-clear to clinch Thuram, who had also been linked with Inter.

The son of former Juventus and Parma defender Lilian Thuram turns 26 in August and plays in multiple attacking roles, as a centre-forward, on the right or the left of a trident.

He scored 16 goals and provided seven assists in 32 competitive games for Borussia Monchengladbach this season.
