The knockout stage of the World Cup continues and these England vs. Senegal predictions suggest a close game. The Three Lions will be the favourites but the Lions of Teranga will be just as confident.
England vs. Senegal odds
1 – England to win – 8/15
2 – Under 2.5 goals scored – 8/13
3 – Both teams not to score – 4/7
4 – England to win to nil – 11/10
5 – Harry Kane to score at any time – 5/4
After being criticised for the performance against the US, England made it through the group with relative ease. A 3-0 win over Wales in the final game was simpler than even the scoreline suggests and Gareth Southgate’s side will be confident ahead of this clash at the Al Bayt Stadium on Sunday.
Southgate brought in Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden for the Wales game and they both had a big effect. They could cause the Senegal defence some trouble this weekend, allowing Harry Kane a chance to score a first goal of the tournament.
The England defence has also been strong since allowing two consolation goals against Iran in their first game – and should be able to deal with the forward play from Senegal.
Aliou Cissé will be hoping that his players can be as single-minded against England as they have been so far. But he will be concerned that Senegal have conceded in each of the three games at the tournament – and now face a very threatening England forward line.
Senegal could find it hard to break through the middle of the England team, with Jordan Henderson adding another barrier. The Liverpool midfielder was brought in for the Wales game and gives Jude Bellingham more scope to attack.
With Idrissa Gueye suspended, much will depend on the performance of Ismaïla Sarr for Senegal’s attacking moves. He will know the England team well from his time in the Premier League – as will many in the side – so might be able to find a weakness that hasn’t really been evident up until now to help Senegal’s chances of progress.

England team news
Gareth Southgate may well look to Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden again after they performed so well against Wales. Jordan Henderson could also be included for his leadership qualities – and for that extra level of defence in front of the back line. Walker should get the nod over Kieran Trippier at right back.
Senegal team news
Aliou Cissé will be without the influential Idrissa Gueye, after the Everton midfielder picked up a second yellow card of the tournament against Ecuador. Nampalys Mendy may come in to replace him and add further strength in the middle. Aside from that, Cissé is likely to go with the players that have done so well so far for Senegal.
