The English FA has been fined £25,630 by UEFA after England fans shined a laser at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel in the semi-final at EURO 2020.

The FA was punished after a laser pointed was directed at the Leicester shot stopper when Harry Kane scored the decisive goal in the 2-1 win after extra time.

Schmeichel saved the penalty, but the Tottenham Hotspur striker scored on the rebound and sent the Three Lions to the Final at Wembley against Italy.

But the English FA were also sanctioned by UEFA after some fans booed the Danish national anthem and set off fireworks.

The punishment was confirmed on Saturday by the European governing body and UEFA said in a statement: “The CEDB has decided to fine the English Football Association 30,000 euros for the use of laser pointer, disturbances during the national anthems and setting of fireworks.”
