It is not just Milan fans wondering why Fikayo Tomori is not even on the long-list for the England squad at EURO 2024, especially after seeing Gareth Southgate’s final picks.

Tomori has been impressing in Serie A since his move from Chelsea in January 2021, earning a permanent transfer for a total of €35m.

He made 35 appearances for the Rossoneri this season between Serie A, the Champions League and Europa League, also scoring four goals.

However, the 26-year-old has only five senior caps for England under his belt, four of them since coming to Milan.

Bizarrely, he was deployed as a left-back in the most recent match against Malta in November 2023.

With news Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been forced to pull out of EURO 2024 with an injury, England fans have joined Milan supporters in wondering why Tomori was simply left at home and not even on Southgate’s long-list.

Among the players called up instead for the tournament in Germany there is also Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk, who was torn to shreds by Roma in their 4-0 Europa League win.
