Emre Can believes “this is the most interesting Champions League in recent years” and names the seven main challengers to Juventus.

The Bianconeri are top of the Serie A table and now visit Spain for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Atletico Madrid.

“These are the games a player wants to take part in, so we are fired up, not worried. I think Juventus have all it takes to win, but the Champions League is a complicated tournament and a difficult one to plan,” the former Liverpool midfielder told Tuttosport.

“Atletico are one of the toughest opponents we could’ve drawn, because they play in such a physical and aggressive way, making life difficult for their opponents.”

Emre Can was asked about the other contenders for the Champions League trophy this season.

“Barcelona and Real Madrid are just starting to reach their peak now. Liverpool were in the Final last season, but watch out for Bayern Munich, as they are finding form too. Then there’s Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and us.

“I’d say this is the most interesting Champions League tournament in recent years.”
