Empoli will sign left-back Riccardo Marchizza on loan from Sassuolo after his impressive experience with Spezia.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the 23-year-old’s transfer to the Stadio Castellani is a done deal.
He came through the Roma youth academy, but was sold to Sassuolo in 2017 for €4.5m, plus 50 per cent of any future transfer fee going to the Giallorossi.
Following that move, Marchizza had loan spells at Avellino, Crotone and Spezia.
He impressed last season in Serie A, providing three assists in 24 top flight games for Spezia, where he played as both a left-back and in central defence.
Empoli were promoted by winning the Serie B title last term.
