Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi confirmed he “rejected €13m” for Lorenzo Tonelli in January and there is no Lazio deal.

The centre-back has also been linked with Napoli and Roma, but there were reports of advanced negotiations with Lazio.

“Are you kidding?” replied Corsi on Radio Incontro Olympia. “I respect Lazio President Claudio Lotito, but anyone talking about negotiations that have already started or even concluded between Empoli and Lazio, adding the inclusion of other players, is inventing a reality that does not exist.

“Tonelli is Empoli’s heritage and among others I rejected an offer worth €13m for him during the January transfer market.

“He received proposals from Italian clubs who will be in the Champions League next season. Juventus, I can guarantee you, would be more likely to target Tonelli than Lazio’s Stefan de Vrij.

“We certainly won’t sell him cheap. I hear some say Tonelli is worth €8m, I can only reply that’s how much one leg will cost.

“In the summer we’ll sit down with all our precious players, including Tonelli, until we can find the best solution to make everyone happy.”
