Tuttosport suggest that Empoli resisted serious pressure for Tommaso Baldanzi this summer, rejecting serious offers from both Juventus and Fiorentina.

The 20-year-old Italian midfielder exploded onto the scene with the Tuscan side last season, earning plaudits for his impressive debut campaign in Serie A, where he scored four goals in 1788 minutes of action across 26 league games.

Baldanzi also shined at the Under-20 World Cup, scoring two goals and providing two assists on Italy’s run to the final, attracting attention from a number of clubs across Serie A.

As reported by Tuttosport via TMW, Juventus and Fiorentina had been following Baldanzi for months and both launched serious attempts to sign the Empoli talent this summer.

The Tuscan side instantly rejected offers worth around €15m, not wanting to lose the 20-year-old Italian midfielder just yet.

President Fabrizio Corsi believes that Baldanzi’s market value will be at least twice as high next summer, especially considering the interest from foreign clubs like Nice and Benfica.
