Fabrizio Corsi admits Tommaso Baldanzi’s move to Roma ‘hurts’ but explains the Tuscans couldn’t block his transfer: ‘It would have been wrong for him and us.’

Roma have already registered Baldanzi’s contract within Lega Calcio, so they are now expected to confirm his purchase from strugglers Empoli officially.

“I am happy for the player who has joined a great club. I hugged Baldanzi yesterday, I told him that I’ve been seeing him since he was 10, so his departure hurts a little,” Corsi told Radio Radio on Thursday.

“He has room for improvement, physically and tactically, but I hope he’ll have an important career. He helped us win many trophies at a youth level, and he was named best Primavera player three years ago. He is still not fit, he’ll need one or two weeks of work, but he scored a great goal at the Allianz Stadium.

“Every time we’ve kept a player for an extra year, we did wrong for him and us; for example, I think of Antonio Di Natale.”
