Fabrizio Corsi has complained about how the media don’t care that Empoli should have been awarded a penalty against Juventus.

There were two possible moments in the recent 3-2 loss to the Bianconeri that the Tuscan side could have been awarded penalties, once in the first half and once in the second. In neither case was one given, leaving Empoli infuriated after the full time whistle.

Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, Empoli president Fabrizio Corsi complained about the poor refereeing and media bias.

“I am disappointed that the newspapers, especially those of Northern Italy, have not focused their attention on these episodes. Evidently Empoli, which is a small club with 45,000 inhabitants, is more popular in the south than in the north.”

He then touched on the tears of Luciano Spalletti at the end of Napoli’s 2-1 win over Lazio, which brought them to the top of the league table.

“I was happy for Luciano and De Laurentiis, who deserve top spot, but sorry for Sarri and Martusciello.”

Juventus’ win over Empoli was important for consolidating their spot in the Champions League places. They currently sit six points ahead of Atalanta, who can close the gap with a win over Sampdoria this evening. Empoli sit 13th in the table, nine points ahead of relegation candidates Venezia.
