Empoli are looking for a replacement for the Nice bound Mattia Viti and they’ve reportedly contacted Juventus to explore a move for Daniele Rugani.

The Tuscan side are currently in the process of closing out a €15m total sale of the talented Viti to Nice, and they’ll need to quickly snap up a replacement ahead of the rapidly approaching season. Empoli’s first game of the season is a first round Coppa Italia clash against SPAL next weekend, so they’ll have to work fast if they want to make any new signings in time.

As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, Empoli have made an official approach to Juventus to explore a move for Rugani, keen to bring back the Italian defender. The Bianconeri are open to a loan deal and the negotiations could get into full swing next week.

Re-homing Rugani gives Juventus the opportunity to make a move for Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic, a player also wanted by rivals Inter.

  1. would milinkovic wat to be a sub player? as he knows it will be bonucci+bremer, unless allegri gonna go 352

  2. @ Gino: You think Rugani is a talent? LOL. Have you ever even seen him play? The guy is 28 and one of the worst defenders I’ve ever seen playing for Juve. He makes blunders every game and the sole reason why we were eliminated last year from CL after he clumsily caused a penalty when it was 0-0.

  3. In fairness, Rugani was solid when called upon last season and is right on par with De Ligt when it comes to conceding penalties, however, in 2018-19 De Ligt had a great season with Ajax so his fumbling errors and lack of pace can be excused. The club should keep Rugani, concentrate on replacing Sandro! SMS in the midfield would be nice but not if it is at the expense of sorting out the LB position.
