Empoli sporting director Marcello Carli confirms a €5m deal with Napoli for Elseid Hysaj, who calls it ‘a dream’.

It was revealed this morning that the Albanian defender was set to follow Maurizio Sarri in leaving the Tuscan side for the Partenopei, and the club’s sporting director has confirmed the deal.

“We have reached an agreement for around €5m,” Carli told Radio Crc.

“There’s no problem. We gave our word to the Azzurri, and I think a deal will be done. Image rights? I don’t deal with that, but I think it’s an easy issue to overcome.”

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old has given an interview about the transfer to panorama-sport in his homeland.

“It’s a big thing for me. This is a dream which I’ve worked hard for that’s finally being realised. This is an opportunity for me to show what I can do on another level of Italian football.

“Napoli are on anothe level in Serie A. I’ll continue to work as hard as possible, to demonstrate my qualities. I’ll try to repay the trust Napoli have placed in me.

“I know there will be a five-year contract, and Empoli will get €5m plus some bonuses.

“Have I spoken to Sarri? Actually, no, not recently. Before he left Empoli he told me he was convinced I’d move to Napoli.

“He knows me well, I spent three years with him in Serie B, as well as last season in Serie A, he gave me a lot of confidence, and I have confidence in him.”
