Empoli boss Beppe Iachini admits his club had to sell Miha Zajc so they could ‘fund other deals’ on deadline day.
“It was a pretty intense and challenging month, our lads were the subject of enquiries and that means we’re doing well,” Iachini said at a Press conference.
“We had to sell Zajc, but we had to do. It was a sacrifice to fund other deals. Just thinking about the front three, you have to respect them.
“We must play at a high level to beat them because they’re also experts in other departments and their position in the table doesn’t reflect their true value.
“We’ve shown too much respect to our opponents in recent games, like against Genoa. It can’t happen.
“We were perfect in parts, but I didn’t like our attitude in the last quarter of an hour.”
