Empoli have released a statement reassuring that striker M’Baye Niang is unhurt after crashing his car on the way to training this morning.

The 29-year-old joined the club in the January transfer window from Adana Demirspor and has scored in each of his two Serie A appearances since then.

However, he had an accident on the way to training today when crashing his car into some parked vehicles.

Empoli confirmed the situation in a statement, noting that Niang alerted the club and is unhurt, so was able to resume training straight away.

Director of sport Pietro Accardi explained that Niang had left the camp for morning prayers and was ‘distracted’ on the way back, bumping into parked cars.

He is therefore in no doubt for this Saturday’s Serie A relegation tussle against Sassuolo.

Niang has a long history with Italian teams, having played for Milan, Genoa, Torino and now Empoli, as well as clubs in France, England, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
