Empoli joked on social media that they were unprepared for a victory over Juventus in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals: ‘We don’t know where the graphic designer is, nor the admin.’
Serie A strugglers Empoli beat Juventus 5-3 on penalties on Wednesday, qualifying for the Coppa Italia semifinal for the first time in their history.
The Tuscans widely celebrated the historic feat on and off the pitch, including on social media, where they showed a picture of the team celebrating in the Allianz Stadium dressing room.
One of their first X posts after the final whistle was a picture of the turf, where they wrote: ‘We won 3-5.’
The picture came with a funny caption that mirrors the club’s wonder: “We won 5-3 on penalties at Juventus’ home!!! We don’t know where the graphic designer is, nor the admin.”
