Roma loanee Alessandro Florenzi admitted it ‘will be an emotional return’ to the Olimpico with Italy and said there’s ‘no need to give advice’ to Paris Saint-Germain target Gigio Donnarumma.

The 30-year-old moved to Paris Saint-Germain on loan with an option to buy last summer, after having spent six months at Valencia in 2020.

Florenzi was the captain at Roma when Paulo Fonseca took over at Trigoria but was not part of the Portuguese tactician’s plans and it’s uncertain if he will return with Jose Mourinho.

But he will definitely be back at the Olimpico this summer, when Italy play three Euro 2020 group stage matches in Rome.

The fans will be back in the stadium for the European Championship and Florenzi looks forward to the ‘emotional return’.

“They are always few in a stadium with a capacity of 80,000, even though they are in 15,000 or 16,000,” Florenzi said at a press conference.

“However, it will be an emotional return to a pitch that has given me so much, which has seen me grow.

“It will be a great feeling, we hope to put down a good performance and to start well.”

Gigio Donnarumma has decided to leave Milan this summer and has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, but Florenzi stressed he has not given the shot stopper any advice about his future.

“No one needs to give advice to Gigio,” Florenzi added. “It’s his life, he makes the decisions.

“He will choose what he thinks is the best for his future. On PSG, I can say that this year has taught me many things.

“I entered a dressing room of strong people and personalities. I’m a better player and I know I’m a strong player.”
