Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has praised Italy international Nicolo Zaniolo for his versatility and willingness to adapt after a series of impressive displays in the Premier League for Aston Villa.

Zaniolo joined the Midlands side from Galatasaray on a season long loan deal with an obligation to buy in a package that could rise to a total figure of €44m, and has since settled in nicely in both domestic and European competitions.

The former Roma forward made his third consecutive league start for Aston Villa at the weekend, helping his side on their way to a headline-making 6-1 win over hotshots Brighton.

Speaking after the full-time whistle at Villa Park, Emery said: “Zaniolo as a person, it is very easy to talk with him, to work with him.

“His behaviour and commitment with us from the first day was very good. His adaptation is going very well, and then he is playing well.”

Zaniolo has also impressed Emery tactically and positionally, with his ability and willingness to fill a number of roles across the front three following injuries and knocks to the likes of Emi Buendia and Leon Bailey.

“He was playing more on the right, but now we needed him playing left side,” Emery explained. “He was available and he was really, really feeling good as well playing and helping there. I am going to use him in different positions and I am really happy with him.”
