Former Roma midfielder Emerson believes Luciano Spalletti “is the perfect choice,” but it’ll be tough against Real Madrid.
The Brazilian was wearing the Giallorossi jersey during Spalletti’s first reign and approves of the decision to replace Rudi Garcia.
“I like Spalletti a great deal as a Coach,” Emerson told TMW.

“I like Spalletti a great deal as a Coach,” Emerson told TMW.
“I also liked Garcia, but it’s always tough to win against Juventus and in these three years he was unable to do so. Roma were the most suited to the title challenge, but they had fallen pretty badly and I think the club made the right decision.
“Spalletti knows Roma and Italian football, so he is the perfect choice. It has always been difficult to work at Roma, for everything that surrounds the club. It’s tough for the Coach and the directors. People are passionate, it’s different to in Turin and Milan, so that can put those in control in crisis.”
The Giallorossi host Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Round of 16.
“It’s tough, as the Blancos have recovered with Zinedine Zidane and a change of Coach has made them hungrier. It’s a great squad with spectacular players and Roma are not in good shape.
“It will be very difficult, but Roma can fight it out with anyone if they have the right concentration.”
