Milan are on the cusp of signing Emerson Royal after sending in an improved offer to Tottenham for the Brazilian right back.

The Rossoneri have been keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old full back for a little while now but have continued to focus on other targets in the first month of the summer transfer window, looking to Alvaro Morata and a new midfielder like Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.

Milan are currently away in the United States for their pre-season tour, where veteran full back Alessandro Florenzi suffered a serious injury in a friendly against Manchester City. The former Roma man will have to undergo an operation after suffering ligament and meniscal damage.

Gianluca Di Marzio details how Milan decided to accelerate for Emerson Royal following the news of Florenzi’s injury, submitting an improved offer to Tottenham worth around €14-15m plus add-ons.

The two parties are close to reaching a total agreement and the Rossoneri are hoping to finalise the deal at some stage next week.
