Milan fans are even more upset to see Pierre Kalulu shine for Juventus as his replacement at San Siro, Emerson Royal, struggles to adapt to life after a summer transfer from Tottenham.

Juventus’ 3-2 Champions League win against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night further highlighted Kalulu’s importance in the Bianconeri squad.

The versatile France defender was one of the best players on the pitch last night, and Juventus and Milan fans equally praised his performance on social media.

Kalulu joined Juventus on loan with an option to buy from Milan last summer, and the Rossoneri replaced him with Emerson Royal from Tottenham.

The Brazilian defender moved to San Siro in a permanent €15m deal, while Juventus paid €3.3m for Kalulu’s loan. The Serie A giants have an option to make his move permanent for €14m at the end of the season.

Several disappointed Milan fans wrote social media messages to Kalulu on Thursday when the Frenchman celebrated Juventus’ latest win on Instagram.

Many others commented on his sale on X, formerly Twitter, highlighting that Emerson has yet to match expectations this season.

Others, however, argue that Emerson and Kalulu’s stats in Serie A games have been pretty similar this season and that Milan lost six consecutive derbies with their former defender, beating their city rivals last month with Emerson Royal in the team.

Time will tell which club made the better deal.
