The Rossoneri almost managed to fumble a 4-0 first leg lead, but the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal still saw them squeeze through.

“In the first half we played truly badly, Arsenal scored after five minutes and it was difficult after that to play in such a situation,” said the Dutchman.

“After the break we did a bit better, but overall today it was in no way a good game for us.”

Nonetheless, Milan are in the quarter-finals along with Benfica, who eliminated Luciano Spalletti’s Zenit St. Petersburg.

“We have to win them all if we want to lift the Champions League, so it doesn’t matter who we face.”
