John Elkann visited the Juventus training ground today to meet with new coach Thiago Motta and director Cristiano Giuntoli, seen by many as drawing a line under the Andrea Agnelli era.

The club has been in the hands of the Agnelli family for over 100 years and Andrea held the reins as President from May 2010 to November 2022.

He resigned along with the entire Board of Directors following the plusvalenze scandal, which saw Juve docked points, given a heavy fine and excluded from UEFA competition for the 2023-24 season.

Although not officially President, John Elkann – who is Andrea Agnelli’s cousin – is at the helm of the family company Exor.

New era for Juventus

With the sacking of Max Allegri and revoking of the European Super League commitment, the last vestiges of the Agnelli era at Juventus are effectively over and Elkann sent a signal confirming that by visiting the Continassa camp today.

He was accompanied by Juventus President Gianluca Ferrero and CEO Maurizio Scanavino.

It was the first direct meeting between Elkann and new coach Thiago Motta.

A group of fans was also there and the message from them was again a change of pace from the Agnelli era.

“We want to let the whole team and club know that we are with them, we will fight with them and follow them everywhere. We only want three things from them: sweat, caring about the jersey and taking us to victory.”
