Lapo Elkann, one of the heirs to the Agnelli fortune, has fuelled rumours that former Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic’s health has taken a turn for the worse.
“A hug to a friend who I love very much: Sinisa Mihajlovic,” wrote Elkann on social media.
“I hope the affection of so many of us reaches you and your family!! I love you and hope to see you soon.”
Elkann is the cousin of Juventus President Andrea Agnelli and has long been a presence around the Bianconeri.
Mihajlovic was diagnosed with leukaemia in July 2019 and had months of treatment, including chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
He never stopped working, communicating with his staff and squad via videolink from his hospital room.
Tests showed the illness had returned in the Spring of 2022 and he had further treatment.
Bologna sacked him on September 6 after a difficult start to the season, which saw the team amass only three Serie A draws and two defeats.
There have been rumours over the last few days that Mihajlovic’s condition has deteriorated, although he was spotted at the presentation of a book written by his former Lazio coach Zdenek Zeman earlier this week.
The 53-year-old Serbian spent most of his career in Italy as first player at Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter, then coach with Bologna, Catania, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Milan and Torino.
Stay strong Sinisa, you will beat this. Legend.
@mak e pizza
Ed?
mak e pizza … here he is … wow
Yes Rizmo, blue white, it’s Ed from Lazioland. It is great to see you on here but at such a sad time for us Laziali. I really wish we had Lazioland back for support and to share our sorrow. My best wishes to you both. Sadly my comment from yesterday was not to be and our legend Miha lost his battle. It is devastating to lose such a hero of Lazio, Serie A and football as a whole. He will be forever in the hearts of so many. RIP Miha.
@Ed – have you found another place to discuss Lazio after Lazioland?
Truly a day of sorrow. Thank you for all the memories Siniša! A man of character!
Sadly not Rick, I am not a twitter user (old school forums are far superior!) but I do look at the page run by Cathal and Evesto and have seen a couple of familiar names occasionally post things on there too. I’ve seen ilsempre on here in the past on the live match text things and had a few words. The Football Italia comments are a bit hit and miss so not great for replying as sometimes they post, sometimes they don’t! Stay Maki…
Which page is that Ed?
It doesn’t seem to like my comments at the moment! Last attempt for now…
If you search for Lazioland then the twitter page should be the top thing in the results. Forza Maki!
