Juventus heir Lapo Elkann insists he is ‘sad to see a great team like Inter struggling’ financially and only ‘mediocre’ people would celebrate it.

Elkann is one of the heirs to the Agnelli family, the cousin of Juve President Andrea Agnelli and the brother of John Elkann, who is CEO of their Exor investment company.

With Inter dismantling their squad just months after winning the Scudetto, some Bianconeri supporters have been mocking their rivals on social media, especially after Romelu Lukaku left in a €115m deal for Chelsea.

However, Elkann considers this sort of behaviour unfair and urged his fans not to be cruel.

“I am sad to see a great team like Inter struggling,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I also believe only mediocre people would celebrate a difficult moment for one of their adversaries. That’s all folks.”

Inter fans fear the sales are not over yet, as owners Suning are still eager to make cuts in order to balance to books, even after selling Achraf Hakimi and Lukaku.
