John Elkann, the CEO of Exor and head of the Agnelli family, reacted to Juventus’ 10-point deduction, admitting it was ‘a difficult moment on and off the pitch’.

The FIGC court handed the Bianconeri a 10-point penalty on May 22 after the club’s third sporting trial for capital gains. They were initially cleared of wrongdoing in their first trial last year but new evidence emerged from the Prisma investigation, which led to a second trial back in January.

Juventus were deducted 15 points by the FIGC court in their second trial but appealed to CONI’s Collegio di Garanzia, who decided in April to temporarily annul the penalty pending a third trial. The club were then docked 10 points in the third trial, a confusing situation that has infuriated many across the footballing spectrum in Italy.

Speaking to journalists at an event at Bocconi University, Elkann discussed Juventus’ 10-point penalty and his conversation with coach Massimiliano Allegri.

“It is a difficult moment on and off the pitch, Juventus has always faced adversity and has always grown stronger in adversity.

“Today I spoke with our coach Allegri. He feels the responsibility of our history and is determined with our team to face the next two matches to deserve Europe on the pitch.”
